For many pilots, flying into Milford Sound to land at the airport at the head of the sound is the pinnacle of GA flying. Whilst it’s beautiful, the mountainous terrain and steep valley walls make it a challenging airport to fly into.
Experienced pilots have a lot of knowledge to share, and flying in and out of an airport like Milford, we all need all the help we can get. So AOPA NZ asked experienced mountain pilot (and current President of AOPA NZ) Sue Kronfeld to show us the way.
In this video, you’ll get Sue’s best tips on how to prepare yourself for your first Milford landing and departure. Sue has three decades of experience flying around the Southern Alps and throughout Fiordland.
