How John Lissington’s wife got him into flying

Worried that he was working too hard on the farm, John’s wife got him a trial flight at the local aero club. And hey presto, John Lissington was hooked on aviation.

Sitting outside the Te Kuiti clubhouse having a yarn about his flying years to date, John has a genuine and obvious love of flying. He describes flying as “therapeutic” and a way to get away from everyday stress.

He says he’s seen so much of New Zealand from the air, and reckons he’s been into over 270 strips around the country. He’s clear about which strip is his favourite, and which plane is the best.

This Pilots’ Talk episode is part of series of candid interviews with AOPA NZ members.
