George Thompson: not a month goes by without a log book entry.

If you haven’t sat in the club house at Te Kuiti airport, you should. It’s an awesome spot, complete with comfy sofas and endless cups of tea and coffee. But what makes it magic is the atmosphere. Some 30 regular members of the aero club come to regular meetings, and amongst them are a bunch of mates who have been flying together for a long time. George Thompson helps keep the group together with his regular updates via email.

In this interview, George shares his love of aviation – a love which began when as a very very small boy, he went to an air pageant in 1947, and saw planes for the first time. A decade and a half later, he started flying, and he’s never looked back.

George talks about his favourite airstrips, his favourite journeys, the advice he’d give to his younger self and why he still loves catching up with his flying mates.
