Phil Pacey first started thinking about flying when, as a boy, he saw top-dressing planes doing their thing.
Fast forward many years, and he decided to get into General Aviation so that he could “take the family on days out” and other fun trips. He did exactly that, and had a blast.
Over 2,200 flying hours later, Phil has seen most of New Zealand by air (often because of AOPA NZ organised events or fly-ins or catching up with fellow AOPA NZ members), and in this interview Phil shares some of his learnings, as well as talking about his favourite strips and aircraft.
This Pilots’ Talk episode is part of series of candid interviews with AOPA NZ members. Pilots, engineers, aviation experts and others who are passionate about General Aviation, have great experience, and have a yarn or two to share. If you have suggestions for future interviews, please email comms@aopa.nz with the member’s details and your thoughts on why they’d make a great interviewee for this series. Interviews were conducted, produced and edited by Mark Sinclair of yBC.
