The second in our series of Pilots Talk videos, where we talk with experienced New Zealand pilots, we catch up with Gavin Wills again.
Gavin is an experienced aviator: an accomplished pilot with thousands of hours logged as pilot in command, many of which have been in a glider. In this video, Gavin links his unique and extensive knowledge of New Zealand weather to his thoughts around what pilots should be doing to ensure the best possible situational awareness when flying around our country. He also shares a couple of stories where his situational awareness – or lack of it – nearly got him into very serious trouble.
If you know someone who you think we should be interviewing for Pilots Talk or any other AOPA video series, please contact the team on comms@aopa.nz.
